The Competition Environment
Only one person will be allowed to support the fencer at the piste. This can be a guardian, parent or coach. This prevents crowds of people gathering at the end of the pistes, allows the referees space to referee efficiently and is better for the welfare of young fencers

All other persons must be on the bleachers, on the gallery or in the café table area.

‘Support’ does not include verbally abusing the child or intimidating their opponent or the Referees. Referees are authorised to black card anyone exhibiting these behaviours under the FIE unsportsmanlike behaviour rule.
These are part of the conditions for entering the competition

Please do not come to the event if you have any cold, flu or Covid19 symptoms or have been in contact with anyone who has these symptoms in the previous 5 days
Many thanks

Points System. NSJCS Points system is used for series trophies. Best 4 scores

  1. Age Group is according to fencer’s age on 1 January 2027. Minimum age is 7.
  2. You can fence up by one age group only, and you cannot fence in two categories which are happening at the same time. Fencers must decide whether they want U14 EF ranking points or NS points.
  3. A fencer can only win the Trophy for their official age group. Points are not awarded for higher age group matches
  4. The schedule can change at short notice which could prevent fencing in both age groups.
  5. Sport80 only permits entry to one age group.
To “Fence up” to a higher age group IN ADDITION to the year of birth age group, you must enter the year of birth age group first and then apply to enter the higher group by sending an email to linda.strachan@newhamswords.org.uk with:

    – Name (of fencer)
    – Date of Birth
    – BF Number
    – Age group entered
    – Additional age group required

    – Email Address associated with the Sport80 account

    – If accepted an entry fee will be entered to your Sport80 shopping basket for you to pay.
    – If two age groups are entered points will be earned only for the ‘correct’ age group.

Please note that if the schedule changes for any reason you may not be able to fence in one of the age groups. There can be no refunds in this situation.

Prizes: Medals and Cups for each event and Shields for Series winners
