Newham Swords Fencing Club’s younger fencers continued their purple patch by taking top honours at both the London Region Qualifier and the St. Benedicts National Leon Paul Junior Series Tournament, both held at the weekend.
Darica Au (aged 14), remained undefeated throughout the day before winning the U14 Girls Age Group at the London Region Qualifier. This now means that Au has qualified for the British Youth Championships Finals, which will take place in May 14.
At the St. Benedict’s National Leon Paul Junior Series Tournament, Jacob Haynes and England International, Alice Campbell, each took Gold in the U12 Boys and U15 Girls Ag Group respectively, whilst fellow England International, Emilija Lukaite and Benjamin Urzdal took silver and bronze in the U13 Girls and U13 Boys respectively.
“It is fantastic that our younger fencers are now starting to get some great results, following the success of our older fencers this season,” said Club Manager, Linda Strachan
