The club is managed by Linda Strachan with assistance from various coaches and trusted members.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Newham Swords Fencing Club delivers training sessions to children and young people across Newham and further afield, many of whom go on to compete in events to represent the club.
It is important that we keep in touch with our members, parents and supporters and promote events and publish success stories to help raise funds for the club.
Your details are in this list because you have:
- Completed and Signed a Club Membership form giving us permission to use these details or
- Registered for some other Newham Swords event under the Privacy notice for that event or
- Signed up to this list via the Sign Up form in the past
Your personal information will only be used by the Club Manager and those assisting on their behalf and with explicit permission to do so. We will never sell or disclose your email to third parties, including other members, without obtaining your permission.
It may also be stored in a database on the web server as required for training camps. The data stored can be seen by referring to the input form
To comply with the General Data Protection Regulations 2018 it is important that, even though you are volunteering your email address, that you also click the email box to give explicit permission for use of your email address as described above.

You are not allowed to leave comments on the site
I you submit images for publication to Linda or the website manager you automatically give full publishing rights on this website or other social media platform. You should ensure images do not contain EXIF or other data regarding location.
Contact and Event entry forms
If you contact the club managers using a contact form or enter an event on this website your IP address, and information you provide will be retained until deleted by the website administrator. This will be not more than two years after you have contacted us.
Cookies are little files of data used by all websites to track the pages you have visited so that you can use the ‘go back’ function in your browser. Also so that we can collect anonymous data on what pages have been accessed and how often and to store temporary data when completing on line forms.

How long we retain your data
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

If you have an account on this site, registered for a training camp you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Data is stored in an encrypted database. The website is protected from hacking at two levels; the server as provided by the host and the website protected by proprietary security software provided by iThemes
What data breach procedures we have in place
In this unlikely event we will inform all affected people as soon as we become aware of a breach and take immediate steps to identify the access method and prevent future incursions.
