Newham Swords Younger Fencers Achieve Results on the World Stage

A great weekend for Newham Swords Fencing Club! On Day 1 of the CEP (Fencing Clubs of Paris) Mini Marathon in Paris (in very hot and humid conditions!!), Maxim Vassiljev and Mohammed Belbouab took bronze and 5th place respectively in the U10 Boys Event whilst Anita Abremonkova and Dominik Juras got to the 3rd Round and last 64 respectively in their U10 Events.

In the U12 Boys Event, Khalam Contractor got the best result of his fencing career to date by taking bronze (losing to the eventual winner) whilst team-mates, Valentins Abremonkovs and David Bishay, both made it to the last 32.

On Day 2, Isabella Manglangit (finishing in 12th place) and Harry Kontakos both made it to the last 32 in their U11 Events whilst Daniel Juras and George Hills came 11th and 12th respectively out of 93 fencers in their U13 event, while Mikhel Archer also made the last 64 in the U13 Boys event.

Thank you to former GB U20 International, Ciaran Archer, who gave up his weekend to help Pierre and I coach in Paris. (click pics for larger images)
