Newham Swords set a new national club record at the weekend when seven of its fencers won medals in five different categories, at the British Youth Championships, held in Sheffield.
In the U12 Age Group, Emeliya Lukaite took bronze in the Girls Category whilst Benjamin Urzdal came 10th in the Boys.
In the U14 Age Group, England International, James Page, took silver in the Boys Category whilst team-mates, Rachel Shaw and Alice Campbell (also an England International) took silver and 7th place respectively in the Girls.
In the U16 Age-Group, GB International, Kamal Minott, and England International, Cameron Nicholas, gained a silver and bronze repectively in the Boys Category whilst GB Internationals Katrina Feklistov, Cieran Archer, Alan Lozovik and a came 10th, 7th and 6th respectively.
Newham Swords final medals of the weekend came from the U18 Boys when GB International, Rajan Rai took the sliver and Jai Birch (the current GB U17 No. 1) took the bronze.
“What a great set of performances from our talented young fencers who have trained hard for this Event”, said Head Coach, Pierre Harper. “This is the perfect warm-up for the London Youth Games and the English Youth Championships, both taking place next month”, added Club Manager, Linda Strachan.
