Rising young fencing star, Khalam Contractor, took his second medal of the season when taking bronze in the U9 Category at the Finchley Foil National Leon Paul Junior Event, held last weekend. Contractor was undefeated in the first round and lost only two fights in his second round to secure the bronze medal for Newham Swords.
Contractor, aged just eight, started fencing in the summer of 2014. In just under two years, he has managed to win gold at the Sports Dock National Leon Paul Junior Tournament (held in June, 2015) and silver at the Totteridge National Leon Paul Junior Event (held in December, 2015).
Contractor is now preparing for the Newham Swords Junior Series Event (taking place at Sports Dock later this month), and for the U10 National Championships, taking place in May.
“Khalam is an extremely talented young fencer who has already mastered a number of complex techniques in his training despite being only eight years of age. His sheer determination to win and the effort he puts into his training are the reasons why he is has a very good future ahead of him”, said Head Swords Coach, Pierre Harper.
