Our GB and England U17 and U20 Internationals
Our up and coming cadets and juniors
Well done to Newham Swords fencers, and GB Internationals, Alice Campbell, Teagan Williams Stewart and Georgia Silk who took gold, silver and bronze respectively at the FCL U20 BRC (held on the 27th February).
This means that the girls have won every single Cadet and Junior BRC so far this season (six in total), making them the most successful Cadet and Junior Women’s Foil Squad in the country!! Well Done Alice, Georgia and Teagan. Pierre and I are really proud of you all!!
Newham Swords made history on 26th January 2019 when Teagan Williams-Stewart, the current GB Cadet Number 1, gained a silver medal at the Rome U17 International.
This was not only a personal best for Williams-Stewart but also an historical result as no other U20 female foilist in the country has ever achieved this in the history of the sport.
“This is a monumental result for Teagan and the Club and well deserved given Teagan’s hard work over the last twelve months”, said Head Coach, Pierre Harper.
“This result comes at the end of an excellent cadet and junior season for Williams-Stewart who has not only won every single U17 and U20 British Ranking competition since September, but has also gained selection for every single U17 and U20 World Cup this season” added Club Manager, Linda Strachan.
Following her fantastic results this season, Williams-Stewart has now been selected for the Cadet and Junior World Championships which will take place in Poland next month.
Yet more GB selections for Newham Swords Fencing Club!
Well done to Teagan Williams-Stewart who has just been selected for the Junior European Championships! This now means that she will compete in both the Cadet and Junior Europeans alongside Newham Swords team-mate, Georgia Silk!
Well Done Teagan and Georgia! Pierre and I are so so proud of you both!!
Well done to Newham Swords fencer, Khalam Contractor, who took double gold in the U11B and U13B, to Mohammed Belbouab and Jagroop Singh who took gold and bronze respectively in the U9B
Congratulations also to all our other fencers who took part, many of whom achieved personal bests – particularly six year old Safiyah Salami who was the youngest competitor in the tournament
