Teagan Williams-Stewart took gold last weekend at the Eastern Region Senior Championships and also won the Best Cadet Performance Award. Congratulations, Teagan!

Well done to Khalam Contractor who took a bronze medal at the National U10 Championships, held in Shropshire. This performance represents a personal best for Khalam who has now won a total of one gold, a silver and four bronze medals this season. Khalam will now prepare for the Newham LPJS competition taking place next month, and the Newham Junior Series Event, taking place in July.
Newham Swords Fencing Club achieved the best results of any club in the country when four of its members took a total of three golds, a silver and a bronze at the Newham National Junior Series Event, held at Sports Dock.
GB U17 International, Emilija Lukaite, and fellow international, Benjamin Urdzal both remained undefeated throughout the day before winning the U16 Girls and U16 Boys respectively whilst Teagan Williams-Stewart set a personal best when taking the U14 Girls trophy. Yet more success was achieved in the U10 Boys Age group when Tomi Fric took silver (his fourth medal of the season) and Khalam Contractor bronze (his fourth medal of the season so far).
“It is great to see our next generation of talented fencers do so well in national junior competitions”, said Head Coach, Pierre Harper.
Newham Swords took four trophies last weekend when Amanda Mond won the U14 British Youth Championships in Sheffield, Eleanor Knox won the U14 Academy Youth Cup (AYC) and Tomi Fric took gold in both the U10 and U12 boys categories at the AYC.
“What a fantastic weekend for our younger fencers. The results are thoroughly deserved given the amount of hard work they are putting into their training”, said Club Manager, Linda Strachan.
