[jbox]GB U17 International and GB No. 2, Kamal Minott, successfully defended his National Title at the weekend when he beat the GB No. 1, Daniel Kiss, from Salle Kiss Fencing Club.

Newham Swords team-mate and fellow international, Katrina Feklistova, gained Newham Swords second medal of the day when taking the bronze medal in the U17 Girls Event, a career best. Other outstanding results in the U17 Girls Event came from Lister student, Rachel Shaw, who (aged just 14) came 7th overall.

In the U20 Boys event, GB International, Rajan Rai, took bronze after losing to the overall winner, George Hendrie from Chichester Fencing Club.

“We are so proud of these performances”, said Head Coach, Pierre Harper, “which have been brought about by sheer hard work and determination throughout the fencing season”, continued Club Manager, Linda Strachan.

Minott, Feklistova, Rai and Shaw will now prepare for the British Youth Championships Finals, taking place in Sheffield in May. [/jbox]
