First Successes of the Season

Newham Swords Fencing Club got their season off to a great start when GB International, Rajan Rai, won the U20 London Foil Event (the first qualifying event for the GB U20 Team), held at Brunel University last weekend. Rajan follows in the footsteps of Swords team-mate and fellow GB International, Jai Birch, who won the event in 2012.

Other outstanding results on the daycame from GB U17 Internationals, Kamal Minott and Alan Lozovik, who were placed 7th and 8th respectively. Both boys had to fence against fencers who were three to four years older than them which makes their results all the more special.

These results now mean that Rai is currently number two in the GB U20 Rankings whilst Minott and Lozovik are currently number two and three respectively, in the GB 17 Rankings.
